Asking sometimes is the solution

Back in the 90's Emmitt Smith reached out to Michael Jordan to learn about business from him. Mike said no problem and set a meeting place. 

After they met, Emmitt asked, "How come we don't have meetings like this more often to learn and do business together?" 

Mike - "What did you have to do to get this meeting?" 

Emmitt - "I had to call you to ask you for the information." 

Mike - "Exactly. If you had not done that, we would not be sitting down talking about business." 

"You were humble enough to ask, meaning you were willing to learn. I cannot teach someone who is not willing to learn. You have to have a fertile mind before seeds can be planted, or you will never learn."

As the saying goes, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”
